After doing some research into local newspapers me and Georgina have decided to re-draft our proposal so as to reflect better on our findings and feedback we got whilst creating our newspaper. I shall be using the RIVALING concepts to show a more focused proposal.
R- We will be trying to represent the youth of Bromley but aiming for the older generation (16-20) as we found out that they are more likely to read a newspaper than the younger generation and also by aiming our newspaper towards a more selcted group we can focus more on the issues that effect and also interest our the group we are trying to represent.
I- Our ideology hasn't changed much and we would still like to treat our customers with repect but I believe we are now going to be taking on a more friendly approach to them rather than being overly formal.
V - We are still going to be selling this newspaper for free but we have found out through our research that ad placement is critical and we will be using more of our front page for advertising than before.
A - Our audience is still the same but as I mentioned before we will be targeting the slightly older audience (16-20) so as we can use more sophisticated language and also do more stories on issues that concern their age group.
L - Our language will also remain the same and we will be aiming towards trying to keep it friendly and engaging for the reader.
I - We have looked into institutions that run and operate free newspapers such as The New Shopper and have found out that the best way to get our newspaper running would be to approach Gannett and see if they would take on our newspaper. The positives of doing this is that it allows us to be operated by a company who already have huge success and also they will have great credibility so people will know that they can trust our newspaper.
N - Our narritive will be that of a tabloid paper and we will have headlines and mast heads that are commonly seen in tabloid papers such as the ones I researched (e.g. Bromley Times) We will be following these conventions because it will give our customers a sense of comfort and they will easily be able to navigate our paper because they will know roughly how everything is layed out.
G - Our genre will be that of a tabloid, free, local newspaper that is aimed towards the older teenagers of our local borough of Bromley.
